Sophomore Class Meeting.

The sophomore class meeting was held last evening in upper Massachusetts shortly after seven o'clock. The first business was the election of officers. Mr. M. Williams was unanimously re-elected president, Mr. A. W. Weld, vice-president, and Mr. J. Lowell, secretary. Two nominations were presented for treasurer, Mr. Walker, who held the office last year, and Mr. Longworth. The latter was elected by a yea and nay vote. Mr. Cumnock was unanimously re-elected captain of the crew, and Mr. Bass, of the eleven. Messrs. Peckham and D. S. Dean were both candidates for the position of captain of the nine. The vote showed a large majority in favor of Mr. Dean. The class then decided after some, noise, but without a dissenting vote, to march in the Republican procession. Seven candidates for marshals were then nominated and a ballot showed the following result: Williams, 105, Longstreth, 56; Burnett, 50; Goldthwaite, 39; Flint, 37; Weld, 30; Crosby, 27; Clark, 27. Messrs. Williams, Longstreth and Burnett were declared elected. Mr. Bass then resigned the position of captain of the eleven, and was followed by Mr. Dean of the nine. Some new nominations were offered, but it was finally decided to leave the elections to the respective teams. After some further unimportant business, the meeting adjourned.
