The following is the arrangement entered into by Yale and Harvard for the game at the polo grounds :
We, the undersigned, agree to abide by and play under the following amendments to the rules of the American Inter-Collegiate Foot-Ball Association, viz : (1) The referee shall be a graduate of either Yale, Princeton, Columbia or Harvard. (2) Rule 19 shall read : "The referee shall take out time for unnecessary delay, decide disputed points, and shall at his discretion disqualify any player without previous warning, for off-side play, tackling in touch, or violation of rules 28 and 38. In all points not covered by the rules, his decision shall be final." (3) Not more than two disqualified men on either side shall have their places filled by substitutes. (4) Rule 38 shall read : "No player shall lay hands on or interfere with an opponent unless he has the ball."
