O WEARY days of hope deferred!

O weary days of endless June!

Sweet-bitter days in which is heard

The joyful note of joyful bird,

And the wind sings a softer tune.

No weariness their grief hath stirred;

No weary days of hope deferred,

But yet methinks my soul has heard

A promise sweet that I full soon

Shall see the end of hope deferred,

Shall see the end of endless June.
