F. J. Mardulier '30 of Medford has been awarded the Francis H. Burr Scholarship established in memory of Mr. Burr, who was a member of the Class of 1909, by his friends, it was announced at University Hall this morning. Mardulier is a member of the University track team and one of the highest ranking scholars in the Engineering School.
Last winter Mardulier was an outstanding hurdler on the University track team, and during the spring season he was a consistent point winner in the low hurdle event. He was also a member of the cast of the Dramatic Club's production "Fiesta" given last fall.
Recipient Track Star
The recipient of this scholarship is selected in the middle of the third year by the Dean of the College and the Director of the Athletic Association, but the gift is not made until his fourth year. It is awarded on the basis of scholastic and athletic ability.
Francis Burr was First Marshal of his Class as well as President of his Freshman Class. He played on the University football team for four years, and was Captain in 1908; he was a member of the University baseball team in his Sophomore Year, a member of the track squad and prominent in polo. He was also affiliated with various clubs and organizations.
