F. D. Roosevelt '04 was yesterday nominated by the Democratic party to succeed Governor Smith as governor of New York state. It was with great difficulty that the Democrats finally secured Mr. Roosevelt's acceptance of the nomination.

While an undergraduate at Harvard Mr. Roosevelt was chairman of his class committee and president of the CRIMSON. From 1910 to 1913 he was a member of the New York State Senate and from 1913 until 1920 he held the position of Assistant Secretary of the Navy.
